The Mattituck Park District (MPD) continues its commitment to community engagement and transparency with public work-sessions and meetings scheduled for each month. These meetings are a vital part of how the MPD connects with the community and addresses important district matters.
In March, the Work Session will be on March 7th, while the Regular Meeting will be on March 21st , 2024. Both meetings start at 6 PM and are held in the Community Room at Veterans Memorial Park. Please click here for the full schedule for 2024.
Work Sessions are held on the first Thursday of each month, and are an opportunity for the board members to discuss ongoing projects and plans for the district. While the public is welcome to attend, it's important to note that these meetings are for the board to address park district business and not a forum for public speaking or scheduling appointments with the Commissioners.
Regular Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, and matters discussed at work sessions which may require a vote by the commissioners, are presented in resolution form and read aloud before each vote. There is an opportunity for community members to express
concerns, voice opinions and contribute to the decision-making process respecting these resolutions. If you wish to be on the agenda to speak at these meetings, please remember to schedule an appointment with the District Office a week in advance. However, all those who attend are welcome to ask questions before the board votes on any resolution, as well as to address other matters related to the park district during the public comment period which comes at the end each meeting agenda.
Agendas and Minutes: Agendas for both meetings will be available for download from the MPD website and available at the meetings. Work Session agendas will be posted three days prior, and agendas for Regular Meetings will be available one day before the meeting. Agendas are subject to periodic changes and/or additions. Minutes of the meetings will be published on the Town of Southold website as approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Special Meetings and Announcements Occasionally, the MPD holds special meetings. Information about these and other important announcements can be found on the MPD Calendar and Facebook page and are posted in the Veterans Park outdoor bulletin board. Stay informed by checking these resources regularly.
Location and Remote Participation All Work Sessions and Meetings are typically held in the Community Room at Veterans Memorial Park, unless otherwise noted. In compliance with New York State Open Meeting guidelines, the MPD also facilitates public participation via Team Meetings. If you wish to participate remotely, please contact the district office by the day prior to the meeting.
Stay Informed For more detailed information on Work Session and Meeting protocols, please refer to Resolution 2018-126. The MPD is dedicated to maintaining an open and transparent process, and we encourage community members to participate and stay informed about the happenings in our district. We look forward to your participation as we work together towards a vibrant and thriving park district.
